Five star reader reviews and another author blurb!

"....A worthy writer with real talent AND a unique vision, a combination rare and important."
-Janet Morris, author of Beyond Sanctuary & The Sacred Band.

  • "Loved the way this story used so many different characters from fairy stories and nursery rhymes, many very cleverly done, like the woman who lived in Aishew with a lot of children (there was an old woman who lived in a shoe....)and a certain young lady with a red cloak who was also a werewolf! Very enjoyable read, loved the way the characters and their stories came together and were then joined with characters from Wonderland. Would recommend to anyone who loves fairy tales and fantasy" amazon.uk review
  • a five star review from amazon by author Michael Taylor... This is one you won't put down. "Once upon a time takes on new meaning in Roy Mauritsen's Shards of the Glass Slipper. In the great tradition of true masters of fairy tales, Mauritsen twists the reader in and out of timeless stories, and leaves the reader asking, "Is there a happily ever after?" Shards of the Glass Slipper is a book that will stand the test of time. This will become a work that will find itself in classrooms from middle school to college. I was incredibly impressed with Mauritsen's ability to alter the reader's traditional ideas of certain characters from fairy tales. He has, with great skill, given the world of fairy tales new life. He's breathed fresh air into antiquated stories, and in doing so, revived stories that may very well have faded into the past. The way Mauritsen changed my perceptions of fairy tale characters equals Maguire's way to make the reader sympathize for the Wicked Witch of the West. Mauritsen is a true visionary who sees a world that is forever changing, and in his vision he's given us a masterpiece to cherish. If ratings went higher than five stars, I would give Mauritsen every one of them. He deserves each of them for allowing the world to experience Shards of the Glass Slipper." • "I finished the book not too long ago. While I was reading it all anyone heard from me was how much I loved it. Every twist and turn was amazing leaving me reading it as fast as I could, even at work. The only thing I didn't like was having no more to read at the end. I can't wait to find out how everything goes down. This book made me root for characters i never would have before and detest others I used to enjoy. And the art is wonderful. I can't wait to get more posters. And slowly infecting others to read and love this book. Can't wait for the next one! Thank you for the amazing story. Next step: Movie." (Thanks Amanda!)
  • Very Entertaining! (four star by author Ernie Laurence)...This was a great read from Roy Mauritsen. The story was well thought out and unique given the nature of the characters. I especially enjoyed the subtle way he worked in the familiar themes into unfamiliar plot twists. Character development and relationship development were well done, especially as we get to see a more mature version of the storybook characters we grew up with. Roy's first work is a harbinger of great things to come as he grows as an author. Again, well done. I recommend this to anyone who enjoys a good fairy tale and look forward to more!

  • "I bought this book having an interest in classic fairy tales. It brings a wonderful twist to them, giving each character their own flavor. Just when you think you know where it's going it gives a turn and you have no idea anymore. Keeps you on the edge of your seat as you fall in love with certain characters and detest others. It's a wonderful book to read to pass the time. You wont be able to put it down."-Amanda
  • "I picked this one at ICON where I meet the author, Roy Mauritsen. Aside from being a very nice guy, Roy has written a truly beautiful book. A complex fairy tale that will stay with you long after you read it. I look forward to the next installment."- Joseph
  • "I've never written a review for any of the books I've read. The books I read tend to have thousands of reviews anyway so I've never bothered. This weekend I took a chance on this book from a first time author. I love fantasy books and was just searching for something new. Nothing caught my eye until I saw this one (yes i admit I judged a book by its cover). Needless to say, I finished it in three days. This book came as a breath of fresh air. From start to finish this book had my attention the entire way through. I loved how the author put an ENTIRELY different spin on fairy tale characters we all know and love. I'm always a sucker for a good villain and this book did not disappoint. If you're a fan of good old school character driven fantasy then I highly recommend this book. I look forward to the next book and others from the author" -Tom
  • "I really loved this book. My first from this author but not the last. Can't wait for the next one."
  • "This is a great read. The character's point of view bounces around quite a bit so sometimes it took me a minute to realize that someone else had taken over. I'm a fast reader so I just had to force myself to slow down so I could take in all the details." -Elaine
  • "Mr. Mauritsen has done a wonderful job in taking classic characters that almost everyone knows and showing them in a new and interesting light. I love how he interweaves parts of the classic fairytales with a unique fresh story, and has characters from a variety of fairytales interacting with each other. He pays homage to their various roots while making them into characters all his own. The story is engaging and fast paced for the most part, with everything you'd want in a fairytale....action, suspense, betrayal, redemption...magic, fairies, witches, and of course, a talking rabbit! I enjoyed this story very much, and look forward to the second in the series"- Kimberly
  • "I just finished reading Shards of the Glass Slipper and I am totally in love with this book! Not just the story but the amazing art work that came along with my Kindle addition. My only hope is that Mr. Mauritsen will be writing a sequel to this story. I was completely taken in by this story and whisked away to a far away land captured in a story that seem as though I were one of the main characters. This is one book I will forever keep in my collection." -Tammy
